Stephanie FallaraGoto Girl

I’m not sure if there is anything to describe me as well as my lengthy Twitter bio does; born and raised chicagoan. bears fan. fruit fly. woo girl. mr. steve dahl’s DoPA. but I’ll try to elaborate on that and use better punctuation.

Born and raised Chicagoan: Ok, so that’s kind of a lie! I was born in Hoffman Estates, IL and lived there until I was a year old when my dad landed a job with the City of Chicago (electrician) and we moved to a tiny neighborhood called The Island, not far from my parents’ Cicero, IL roots. It was there my mom discovered her love of a radio show “Steve and Garry”, and where my own love for talk radio began, as if I had a choice. We moved to Garfield Ridge when I was 11 years old and that is where I spent my formative years; hanging out on Archer Ave., prank calling the Rainbow Motel, working at Palermo’s on 63rd St., playing 16 inch softball at Stars and Stripes park, shopping at Ford City and Chicago Ridge Malls and attending Queen of Peace high school, Moraine Valley Community College and Columbia College Chicago, all like a true Southside girl.

Bears fan: I was taught 2 things as a young girl- 1. Love the Chicago Bears, 2. Hate the Green Bay Packers. I am a good student. Sidenote, I was also taught the hard way if playing “Chicago Bears” with your dad and brother, be sure to live up to your Richard Dent persona as when your father tackles you yelling “Refrigerator Perry” you may end up with a black eye in your 2nd grade picture.

Fruit fly: I have quite the bevy of gay friends, and live with 3 of them in a Roscoe Village apartment that Steve endearingly refers to as “Blow Job Central” (BJC). If I’m out and about, you can be almost certain to find me on North Halsted. I am also, of course, a huge fan of an MTV Canada show called “1 Girl, 5 Gays”.

Woo girl: The CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” defines a woo girl as- “a type of young woman, who like the cuckoo bird or the Whip-Poor-Will, gets its name from the signature sound she makes. A woo can be elicited from a certain song coming on the jukebox to half-priced shots, from a ride on a mechanical bull to, well, pretty much anything.” That sums it up perfectly for me.

Mr. Steve Dahl’s DoPA: I’ve listened to Steve for the past 27 years and my mom is what you might call a super fan. While attending Columbia College I heard Steve complaining about needing interns and although I studied Marketing, Columbia is big on pushing students to do an internship. I called on a whim, spoke with Brendan and landed an interview that I almost dodged after hanging up the phone and hearing Steve say “only cute girls!” Thankfully, I showed up and turned my months interning into a full time job as Steve’s Director of Personal Affairs with a boss and co-workers I adore.
